Here Comes the Bride

At right, Jackie (in purple) and her mother, 92-year-old ceramic artist Sylvia Hyman, welcome Myrna Grossman to the family. Myrna recently married Jackie's brother Paul in a beautiful ceremony in Nashville, Tenn. Bride and groom live in Fairfax, VA, where Myrna is a wedding planner

The Smithsonian American Art Museums in Washington have acquired a second sculpture by Jackie’s mother, Sylvia Hyman. “Bookmobile,” below right, was donated to the museum by Morgan Keegan & Co., Inc. This full-size trompe l’oeil (fool the eye) work is made of porcelain and stoneware.

A film about Sylvia by Curt Hahn, “Sylvia Hyman: Eternal Wonder,” has received honorable mention in the 2010 da Vinci Film Festival. The DVD can be ordered here. To see free YouTube clips about Sylvia, please click here or here.
